Hello. It's so cool to be back again! What happened? Well it's a long story. I may post it later on. Anyway, I've lost our master list of suggestions. So I'm looking for any ideas for new things and improvements on the site. These may include new games, new features for the boards and other areas, and sut about anything else. We'll be doing a few things with the boards soon including adding support for moderators, so watch out for another message soon, because we will be looking for help moderating some of the boards around here. Also, as always, if you'd like to join us as a coder, we'd loe to talk to you. Send admin #1 a note.
Welcome back!

I suggest that whenever someone sends a quick note, it should be accessible without having to click on a link to read it. Could this be done? Usually I landmark the word note with the jaws find feature and that's fine, but it would be ideal to have a sound play when the note comes up and for it to be right there. Thanks.

Here's a good suggestion or two. How about some better games. Hang Man for instance should be clue based, so that it's easier to guess the word. You don't get the word more than you do because you have no idea what it is, and by the time you can even get close to figuring it out, your game is over.
For the Guessing game, have it not deduct so many points. Currently it takes off 20 points each time you play. Something like 5 or even 10 points is sufficient enough.

As for the quick note function, one should be able to disable this in your profile so people can't bother you while doing stuff like playing games and such. Have this where you can turn it off in your profile, like have it read something like, "Allow Quick notes from other users, yes, or No. Check the check box or radio button appropriate. You already can turn off Mass QuickNotes.

I have to disagree on Hangman. I've seena lot of points won on Hangman since it's been up. Some words are harder than others. May expand it in future, though. As for ignoring quicknotes, this is near the top of the to-do list. Right now you can only ignore mass quicknotes. I plan to expand this soon, as well as finish a new game.

If someone sends me a quick note, how do I get it? Sorry I am a newby.

It just pops up at the top of the hpage whenever your online. What're you guys coding in here, PHP? I've done a little - very little, not much. HMM.

Yup, it's basically all PHP.

I have an idea for another word game. How about the word game called word train. Basicly, one person picks a letter, then the other person picks another letter that will go with that ferst letter to help form a word. Players keep taking turns picking letters until a word is found, or someone chooses a letter that will not go with the already picked letters to form a word. That person will automaticly lose after picking an incorrect letter. And, whoever picks the last letter to form a word, wins. Sound confusing? The Franklin language master has this exact game if anyone has that thing. I think that could be a cool interactive game, and if there are no other players available, you could play against the computer.

Hello. Ya, actually I was thinking of some of the other Franklin games to try and do on here. I'm not sure of a good way to do head to head games yet, cuz you wouldn't know when the other person has done their turn. THe page would have to continually refresh or you'd have to click a button to see if they did their turn. can't think of an easier way yet. I think I can do Word Train against the computer, though. I was also thinking of a timed word scramble thing, or a version of jJotto.

Word train against the comp would be cool.

Or, how about jumble? Not sure if the Franklin has that one, but that one is cool also. If it's not, or u r not familar with that one, let me know and I can explain it.

Post 13 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Saturday, 17-Apr-2004 15:42:40

You mean like the scrambled word games in the papers?

Post 14 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Monday, 19-Apr-2004 4:15:00

No not really. Basicly, you have a random combination of letters generated by the computer, then, the user tries to figure out what that random generation of letters is. Maybe a set of for letters, such as B A D D for example. You wouldn't want to use all of the letters though, since there would be way too many combinations, but maybe 6 of them. Anyway, give the player 10 chances or so to guess the correct combination, and tell them how many letters they have in the right place. Here's how a ferst guess may go. I pick, A A D D. The correct combo is B A D D, so after hitting enter, the computer tells me, "you have 3 letters in the correct order, please try again. You now have 9 guesses left."
I hope that this is clear enough for you.

Ahyes. It's Jotto on the Franklin and I think it uses A through F. I'm looking at that one or another idea.

Ya. deduction.. That game frustrates me as I am not good at games like that, but I have another suggestion. I like trivia so what if a question were put up everyday and users had to answer it if they wanted. The ones with the righ answers could win points.

Post 17 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Tuesday, 27-Apr-2004 8:48:00

I think it could be cool to give those who can guess all of the anagrams of a word a few bonus points. You know, like having the normal 500 points for winning and then maybe another 250 if you find all of the words. Just an idea.

Post 18 by sugar (Entertain me. I dare you.) on Thursday, 06-May-2004 12:57:25

I agree with what you were sayign about extra points for the anagram thingie, I think that maybe people should get a point per correct word or something an then five hundred if they win the day? Personally I'm not very impressed with the fact that some peopel around here would appear to have super brains but what can ya do......

Post 19 by admin (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 06-May-2004 14:06:14

I'd be more inclined to put in a system like that, but some people aren't using their brains as much as they should be, ahem. <clears throat>

Post 20 by sugar (Entertain me. I dare you.) on Friday, 07-May-2004 11:55:51

hmm, these boards are getting a bit overlapping and confusing. i just wrote this somewhere else but thought maybe I should write it here too. Sorry to anyone who is reading this for the second time...... I was thinking, I don't think it's fair that the same small bunch of people are constantly at the top of the anagram list. Would it be possible, instead of just having the highest scorer win every day, to just have a random draw some how? at least that gives everyoen an equal fair chance?

Post 21 by sugar (Entertain me. I dare you.) on Friday, 07-May-2004 11:57:00

i think somethign liek word train against the computer. when i had my language master, i used to love that game

Post 22 by marrie1 (Veteran Zoner) on Saturday, 08-May-2004 1:02:54

Word treain would be fun. Maybeagainst the com[uter.

Would there be a way that once we log in there could be a choice for our computers to remember usernames and passwords. Weightwatchers and a few other sites have this type of thing in effect. There is an actual game called wordstrain for purchase and it is absolutely wonderful. There is also another game called word scramble which is for purchase, too. You can tell I love games. This time it took me almost four and a half hours to get 113 words, and no matter how I scramble the letters, I can't get the last one. Darned, darned, darned! I like the word train thought for a game up here as I'd definitely play it. What if a trivia game, not quiz could be put together where there were various categories with lots of questions to answer. Whomever answers the most trivia questions for that day scores. I don't think people could cheat with that kind of game. I'm the world's worse at trivia, but I'd even participate. Smiles.
